It's incredibly offensive. The first time I saw it, it was credited to 'diplomats'. I suspect they are the sort of so-called 'diplomats' who spend their whole time complaining that the country they work in isn't exactly like the country they are from instead of taking the time to understand the culture. Grrrr.
Hmm. I'm wondering what the "-stan" ending means. Wikipedia on Londonistan is unenlightening, So then I tried "-stan" It seems it's a Persian (i.e. pre-muslim) suffix meaning "home of". It has no religious implications, per se, although a lot (all?) of the countries with -stan endings have significant Muslim populations. I remembered that India used to be called Hindustan. Turns out that Hindustan is a term for pre-Muslim India. Interesting, eh? So Londonistan would be the home of London!
Head go 'splody
Are they gearing up to invade us next?
