I don't know what surprises me less, that Cherie Booth is talking sense on civil liberties, or that the Tories have adopted the 'homeland security' terminology (which they presumably did ages ago and I didn't notice).

I vaguely recall seeing a "Shadow Secretary for Homeland Security" around election time. Could be wrong though.

The Tories were calling for a UK Cabinet post of Head of Homeland Security back in November 2002, and seem to have had an equivalent post themselves since at least May 2004. Not that I like it, mind.
